Aeeris Limited (ASX: AER) is pleased to report that EWN was awarded Logan City’s Council tender to provide an early warning service for weather and other hazards to council residents and staff.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- The service delivers SMS, landline and email notifications and includes a mobile application.
- Residents can receive alerts about extreme weather events directly to their smartphone, tablet or mobile device via Aeeris’ Early Warning Network app.
Mayor Luke Smith said the new app was the latest initiative Council had invested in to help residents prepare and respond to severe weather.
“One of the great advantages is that if you are out shopping or visiting friends, this app can alert you of incoming weather and give you time to get home and close windows, move cars or whatever you need to do before the weather hits,” Mayor Smith said.
“The app picks up warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) about severe thunderstorms, flood warnings, cyclone watches, tsunami and fire weather warnings.
“However, it will only send alerts when those things are expected to affect the address people have registered with the app.”
Users can also receive severe weather alerts from across Australia based on their GPS location.
