To have a 3D printer was once upon a time unimaginable. Over time and development the price of these machines have significantly declined due to the evolution of technology. Previously metal printers were unaffordable for most except the largest companies, however, as technology continues to grow and improve, 3D metal printers have become more accessible. 3D Metal printing is now one of the fastest growing sectors in the industry.
Aurora Labs was one of the first companies to develop an affordable metal 3D printer. A kickstarter campaign two years ago, for a metal 3D printer priced below $4,000. This prospect of a cheap printer was unheard of at that time of the 3D printing market. Unfortunately for Aurora a intellectual property dispute with Kickstarter cased the project to fall through. Although a setback the campaign managed to raise three times the goal of funding at the time.
Fast forward and now Aurora Labs has moved on to develop a larger scale metal printer that was 100X faster than any other machines in the market. Companies including the likes of NASA showed interest in the machine before it was completed. Now the Perth, Australian based company has shipped the first printer the S-Titanium.
Although the larger scale model is more expensive than the $4000 model it is still seen as extremely affordable in the market starting at $39,999. The technology allows for printing of more metals than other machines with even more metals to be added to this list.
Aurora Labs is now preparing for full production, they are already performing strongly on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). They are the top performing IPO on the ASX with a gain of 1540% in charge price from December 9th.
