- The six-year deal gives the company access to CSIRO technology and commitment to refining the
Numen system.
Ecocentric Energy, a Western Australian start-up, has announced a research and licensing deal with CSIRO. Ecocentric has brought together Australian designed hardware and cloud-based computing with CSIRO’s electrical fingerprint technology to develop their Numen energy system. Collaborating with CSIRO algorithms, Numen brings together a buildings total energy signal an identifies how much energy compliances are using without individual meters. Numen also has access to a cloud-based database, developed by CSIRO, to recognise what appliances are plugged in on site. It supports end-users to become efficient in using energy by better understanding how energy is used in their buildings and can predict faults for pre-emptive maintenance.
The six-year deal gives Ecocentric access to CSIRO’s cognitive metering technology and commits the two companies in developing the Numen system further. The deal also sets the path for the commercial roll-out of Numen, which is already gaining interest around Australia and overseas. The technology has a potential to slash commercial electricity consumption and therefore saving costs.
