Implications of Carbon Tax on disposal of Municipal Solid Waste

It has been widely reported that the introduction of the carbon tax in Australia from 1 July 2012, will increase the cost of landfill disposal for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). The magnitude of this additional waste disposal cost will vary depending on factors such as the rate of landfill gas emissions, landfill gas capture efficiency, and future carbon price profile.
