Standard pipelines are made from lines of pipe “jointed” together. They are costly, inefficient to transport, cause damage to the environment and difficult to construct (requiring lots of skilled labour). Welding polyethylene is slow = expensive.

Long Pipes has a solution: a seamless, continuous, high pressure (1,500 psi, 100 bar 10 MPa nominal) composite pipeline network made in the field; with no to very few “joints”, onshore and in time offshore, plus in time long length repairs – the “Fluid highway™“

The Fluid Highway is a composite made of 3 layers:
1. Inner liner:- Impermeable multi layered thermoplastic designed for the fluid transported.
2. Reinforcements:- Fiberglass, aramid, basalt, carbon:- layers 1+2= “The Sock”
3. Outer casing + resin + air added in field:- UV and environmental protection + Resin Epoxy and Vinyl Ester + Air for inflation

“NO LIMITS”

There appear to be “NO LIMITS” in terms of speed or distance of production 10m/min + sections of more than 1-6km and then spliced continuous 10km+ appears practical.

Why is the Fluid Highway unique?
In comparison to conventional pipeline materials like steel, HDPE and filament wound fiberglass; a Long Pipes Fluid Highway™ could have a higher pressure rating and be, lighter, stronger-tougher, faster to install, cheaper, lower labour, safer in transport, air added on site = less transport, continuous = no/fewer joints, impermeable, intelligent – fibre optics, lowest CO2 to produce + lowest environmental impact, no corrosion longest life and non-conductive for installation under power lines. The Fluid Highway is suitable for water, gas, oil and most fluid transportation as well as those fluids that cannot be transported using conventional pipelines today such as Raw C02 for CCS (Carbon Capture Storage) and EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) a potential global climate changer.

• Extensive materials and performance testing our base 4 layer pipe @ 350mm 14’’ is over 130 bar burst
• Pipe in Field; 1km Harvey Water 2016
• Test Pipe Iron ore slurry 2016
• 10km Laverton, Western Australia: mine process water in 450 meter lengths @ 5m/min @ 350mm (14”) May 2018

What is Long Pipes Doing?

• Certifying to API 15S for oil and gas end 2019/20
• Preparation for next 10-50km projects

What is next for Long Pipes?

• Next step planned 2-3km lengths @ 10m/min
• Then continuous spliced in field 10-100km
• Up to 1.4 meter or (55”) for large 300km irrigation project in discussions plus many smaller diameter projects in 2020
• International roll out to major global markets 2019/20
• Offshore: Predicted start 2021
• 2m pipe to meet market 2021/22

The world awaits the completion of the Fluid Highway for basic long-distance Fluid Highways in water and with API gas and oil. However there are many projects that are not easily done at present….

From:-

• Hot brine:- steel dissolves, HDPE melts and fiberglass blisters; a Fluid Highway is designed for these conditions;
• Raw CO2 with all the contaminants from coal and gas fired power stations for the scrubber plants; to the transportation networks. Fluid Highway can be designed to take the pressure of the super critical CO2 and the corrosion of the combustion acids and gasses to make CCS low cost and practical for our planet
• Ultra-sour gas for Kazakhstan and the New North Sea; Fluid Highway is designed for the acids and the microbial attack
• Geo Thermal power high pressure steam for Indonesia and around the ring of fire for our planet. Fluid Highway is being designed for a long life in the sulphurous steam at 185C @ 100 bar, 10 mPa, 1,500 PSI
