There is light at the end of the tunnel for Peppermint following the adoption of its mobile-phone payment bill APP by a significant number of Filipinos. Many Filipinos do not own a bank account hence get their weekly payments in cash. This further forces them to distribute their salary in cash to sort out various bills. One of the main disadvantages of making payments in cash is that one has to travel in order to get their bills paid. This can be costly since transport costs may be incurred.
Metro Gas, SUNMar Express and MyWeps have encouraged their agents to conduct ‘live’ pilot programs together with their customers. This is aimed at enhancing Peppermint’s mobile platform. Approximately 500 agents have taken part in this exercise during the past few months.
Filipinos can now expect an amazing and effortless experience during the payment of their bills. The Peppermint mobile APP provides a diversity of financial transactions such as money transfers, payment of household bills, mobile banking, and online recharging of telephone accounts.
The pilot testing has so far identified practical issues and improvements that need to be considered to give customers a fantastic experience while paying their bills in the comfort of their homes. It has been noted that customers should be at home during deliveries by the agents to get sufficient support in paying the household bills. This significantly reduces the chances of confusion and errors since the agents are well-versed with the procedure.
Chris Kain, Peppermint Innovation’s Managing Director, stated that the live testing with Metro Gas, SUNMar and MyWeps offered valuable feedback and comprehension into the requirements as well as operations to make its mobile payment option successful.
According to Mr Kain, Peppermint’s agreement to partner with Sante Barley had been prompted by news of the real-time testing programs.
