Zukaz is a location-based, augmented reality mobile application that is free-to-play, allowing merchants to market directly to consumers through real cash vouchers which can be redeemed in-store or traded on the Zukaz trading exchange.

Based in Albury, NSW, Zukaz aims for a viral acceptance as a disruptive marketing platform, providing an alternative for businesses to advertise and market their products and services with minimal fees.

Zukaz “Hunters” will be able to collect vouchers virtually anywhere and redeem or sell them to make a profit.

The inspiration behind Zukaz is “Pokémon Go," the biggest mobile phenomenon in 2016, which blends augmented reality (AR) with real-world scenarios.

Currently, the Zukaz application has been developed and is in the beta-testing phase which was successfully rolled out in Albury.

With a rapid increase of customers from 70 to 550 in only 4 days just by word-of-mouth and organic growth, Zukaz believes that early traction can be accelerated with the on-boarding of anchor merchants.

What makes Zukaz unique is that merchants won’t be charged unless a successful redemption is placed. Other strategies like incentives, achievements, vouchers, and database acquisition from larger merchants will be carried out to retain customers.

Overall, the Zukaz app will be a direct gateway for merchants to connect with their existing and potential customers using the power of augmented reality.

In the upcoming financial year, the vision for Zukaz is to have 150,000 merchants and 15 million members in the database.

According to Matthew Endresz, project manager of Zukaz, “Certain partnerships are in place for Zukaz to scale rapidly and to go global.”

With a good amount of people and merchants engaged in the ecosystem, Allan Endresz, advisor of Zukaz believes “it’s only getting bigger”.

“Currently, we are looking to expand into regional towns and we will be onboarding bigger merchants which will accelerate the growth to bigger cities.”
